XR Lab Launch in PNG

Real change in the classroom starts with the people standing at the front of it. Dropping new VR headsets into a school doesn't guarantee better educational outcomes; it’s about giving educators the confidence and support to actually use them.

Last week, our Victorian Flight Crew member, Anthony Ernst, flew to Port Moresby for our very first on-the-ground VR training in Papua New Guinea. Seeing local teachers connect with immersive technology firsthand, their faces lighting up with the possibilities, was a truly special moment for our team.

Historic Golden Jubilee

This landmark trip was beautifully timed to coincide with PNG’s 50-year Golden Jubilee celebrations. Hosted by the International Education Agency of PNG (IEA), the event brought together passionate educators from across the region to experience the future of learning.

This trip also marked the activation of our newly signed five-year Heads of Agreement (HoA) with the IEA. We extend a massive thank you to IEA CEO Neal Mather and KoroBoro International School Principal Peter O'Sullivan for so warmly welcoming us to host these sessions across several of their campuses.

Empowering Local Teachers

The core goal of this expansion is building human capacity. Koroboro International School has just invested in a state-of-the-art XR Lab, featuring 40 new VR headsets. Instead of waiting for the boxes to arrive, we wanted to ensure their teaching staff felt completely comfortable, trained, and excited to teach with them from day one.

Establishing these joint capabilities on the ground fundamentally scales the XR potential of the entire region. There is nothing quite like watching an educator realise how immersive learning can help them reach a student who might otherwise struggle to engage. That lightbulb moment is why we do what we do.

Our Incredible Partners

A transformative, multi-national initiative of this scale takes a village. Procuring these 40 headsets and facilitating this on-the-ground training is the result of a 12-month collaboration between some of the leading names in technology and education.

We owe a massive thank you to Microsoft for making the initial introductions that sparked this entire initiative. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the JB Hi-Fi for their crucial foundational work, and to Mobilise IT for helping us maximise our deployment and on-the-ground support.
